Die Sopranistin Talia Or

The soprano Talia Or

Israeli-German soprano Talia Or and the JCOM have a long-standing collaboration. With her impressive stage presence and a voice that combines technical brilliance with emotional depth, Talia Or captivates audiences on the operatic stage and in the concert hall.

Origin and musical roots

Born in Jerusalem into a family of musicians, Talia Or moved to Germany at the age of four and grew up in Aachen. She began her musical studies with violin and piano before turning to singing. She graduated with honors from the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, winning prestigious competitions while still a student.

Opera career and international engagements

Talia Or made her operatic debut in 2002 as Cherubino in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Opera Studio of the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels. This was followed by engagements with the Young Ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera and the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, where she performed roles such as Pamina (The Magic Flute), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), and Rosina (The Barber of Seville).

International guest appearances have taken her to major opera houses, including La Scala in Milan, the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, the Teatro Municipal in São Paulo, and the New National Theatre in Tokyo. Of particular note is her critically acclaimed portrayal of Marzelline in Beethoven's "Fidelio" at the Teatro Regio in Torino under the direction of Gianandrea Noseda.

Concert activity and repertoire

In addition to her operatic career, Talia Or is a sought-after concert and lieder singer. Her repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary and includes works by Bach, Mozart, Mahler, Poulenc, and contemporary composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina and Moritz Eggert. Highlights of her concert career have included Mahler's Symphony No. 2 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta and Mozart's Mass in C minor under Andris Nelsons.

Pedagogical activity

In addition to her stage career, Talia Or is also committed to the musical education of young talent. As a vocal instructor at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts, she passes on her experience and knowledge to young singers.
