#jugendmeets JCOM: Student blog 'Three days with the Butterbrote Besser Essern'

Over three days, I, Carl Heuberger, was able to participate in the school-based cooperation between the Nymphenburg Schools and the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich (JCOM). ButterbroteBetterEater Opera in the Volkstheater and get an insight into the hectic and yet exciting world of theater.

When I arrived at the theater two days before the premiere, everyone was busy working. During the day, I was allowed to attend the rehearsals for the upcoming performance and immediately helped Daniel Grossmann, conductor and founder of the JCOM. Wherever there were any discrepancies in the music or the performance during the rehearsal, it was my job to write them down. Listening properly to Mr. Grossmann's sudden calls in the midst of the rehearsal noise turned out to be more difficult than I thought. I just didn't want to do anything wrong on my first day.

A children's opera, as the name suggests, consists mainly of children. What makes such an opera so charming, and which is ultimately performed wonderfully, also means a lot of work backstage. On the second day, I was busy with the relatively small team of organizers, putting stickers on shoes. The day had come for the video recording of the opera and every shoe had to be black. But since not all of the shoes were in the right color, it was decided to stick over brightly colored areas. We worked like crazy against the clock!

The day of the premiere had arrived! After three days, I too was proud of the opera and how well it turned out in the end. It felt as if I had personally contributed to the success of this opera. After thunderous applause, there was a premiere party for everyone, which I was able to spend with the JCOM team.
