Daniel Grossmann, conductor
The Jewish festival of Purim, which begins on the evening of March 6th in 2023, dates back to Queen Esther, who lived as a Jewish orphan in the Persian diaspora in the 5th century BC. When Haman, the highest government official of the Persian king, tried to have the entire Jewish population murdered, Esther courageously went to the king herself and thus prevented genocide. This rescue is still celebrated on Purim today.
Together with the narrator Markus Nau, the JCOM brings the Old Testament story to life. Music from Antonio Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' is played.
