THE STORY OF QUEEN ESTHER - for school groups
02 Mar 2026, 11:00
Münchner Künstlerhaus am Lenbachplatz
The Jewish festival of Purim, which begins on the evening of March 2nd in 2026, traces its origins to Queen Esther, a Jewish orphan who lived in the Persian diaspora in the 5th century BC. When Haman, the highest-ranking official of the Persian king, attempted to have the entire Jewish population murdered, Esther bravely went to the king herself, thus preventing a genocide. This rescue is still celebrated today at Purim.
Together with narrator Markus Nau, the JCOM brings the Old Testament story to life. Music from Antonio Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' accompanies the performance.
