As part of FC Bayern Munich's "Red Against Racism" initiative, students from various Munich schools, together with the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich, created an "anthem against racism" - and performed it live at the FC Bayern Basketball vs. BG Göttingen basketball game in BMW Park on May 4, 2025.
The "Anthem Against Racism" was created as part of a project lasting several weeks: In a composition workshop at the end of 2024/beginning of 2025, students met regularly with composer Leon Zmelty and developed the lyrics and musical ideas for the anthem. Leon Zmelty composed the anthem for unison choir and wind orchestra. The choir parts were distributed to Munich schools in March, and since then, the children and young people have been rehearsing together with their teachers. The students who play in the orchestra came from various schools, music schools, and private lessons. Professional musicians rehearsed the anthem with them.
The aim of this extraordinary project: to set an example for tolerance and against exclusion – with united voices in the heart of social life.
The commitment of students, teachers, musicians, and partner institutions impressively demonstrates that racism has no place in our society – and young people are ready to speak out loudly and creatively for it.
